What better way to kick-start a new season than a trendy new ’do? Whether you’re starting a new career, going back to school or just looking for a change, transforming your tresses into today’s hottest look is a sure way to turn a few heads this fall! While most of us are resistant to the idea of changing our hairstyles, the truth is hair trends change with the seasons just like fashion does. Keeping up with hair trends can be effortless with a little planning (choosing classic looks that will last a few seasons) and a little courage (taking risks with colour and length if you want to stay in style).  Regardless of your choice in cut or colour, one way to keep your look up-to-date and fresh is to get a trim at least every two months or when the ends begin to appear brittle and dry. Refreshing your colour is also a chic bet once your roots become visible.  We asked some of our dedicated readers why they wanted a new look this season and, in turn, treated them all to an unforgettable fall makeover!

"The Bold Brunette"

Melissa Badr

Occupation: Circulation & Customer Service Manager

Melissa, not averse to experimenting with her hair, was looking for a drastic change.  Her natural brown wavy locks, although already beautiful, needed a rich colour boost for the fall season. We added a hint of auburn to a darker brown tone to compliment her hazel green eyes. Inches were taken off the ends, with the addition of workable layers, suitable for her wavy texture and to give her more body, bounce and dimension to her silhouette.

Style Guide: To get Melissa s look: 1) Blow dry damp hair with a medium-sized round brush; 2) Use a medium to small barrel curling rod (insert sectioned strands into the clamp and roll the barrel from the root to the tip); 3) Loosen and set curls as desired with your fingers, use a medium-hold finishing spray.

Fall Highlights
Orlie Soroka

Occupation: From Teacher to Vice Principle

With three young children and a promotion on the horizon, we wanted to make sure Orlie’s hair was dressed for success and manageability. We took her look from sweet to savvy with a trendy blonde bob, adding platinum highlights for her back-to-school makeover. A shorter stylish ’do makes Orlie’s beautiful blue eyes pop, and gives this woman-on-the-go a refined look with minimum effort.

Style Guide: To get Orlie’s look” 1) Blow-dry the hair with a large round brush to get the shape and body; 2) Use a flat iron from root to tip to smooth out the edges; 3) Finally, use a light finishing spray to set.

"Beauty and the Bangs"
Angela Demontigny

Occupation: Fashion Designer

This fashionista needed a super suave hairstyle to match her designs on the runway. So, we cropped her long dark locks into a sexy shoulder length ’do – hot for the fall season – and added thick, face-framing bangs for that haute-couture edge. Finally, we added a rinse and straightened her style for a shiny, flawless finish.

Style Guide: To get Angela’s look: 1) Blow or towel dry hair completely; 2) Use a flat iron from root to tip, on maximum heat to straighten sectioned hair flawlessly; 3) Then use a shine serum to smooth out frizzes.

Star Power
Melanie Seth

Occupation: Finance Administrator

With her natural elegance and classic style, we knew that Melanie, Viva’s own finance administrator, would be a dead-ringer for Hollywood’s hottest starlet, Angelina Jolie. To get that red carpet look, we treated Melanie to one of Angelina’s signature up do’s with a beautiful, fancy flare.  The makeup was natural and sexy, with a shiny nude gloss, perfect for a fall evening; then we added just a couple of lash extensions on the outside corners to complete this gorgeous transformation.
