A Sweaty Survival
Here are some simple, natural beauty strategies to keep you looking fresh through any degree of oil or sweat!

1. Avoid a greasy grill by switching foundations, which can make your face feel heavy in the sun and should be replenished with each changing season. Winter foundations contain heavy moisturizing ingredients needed during the harsh cold climate , while summer versions are lighter, oil- free and contain SPF protectants.
2. Try oil-free moisturizers, but also make sure they include an SPF of at least 15. Oil-free moisturizers will also help you reduce oil buildup, which can cause acne. Opt for a tinted moisturizer as a light weight substitute for foundation. Also, drink plenty of water to moisten your skin naturally (at least eight glasses per day).
3. Only apply concealer on spots where you need it the most. Try to avoid the oily t-zone area. Use a water-resistant concealer, though, so it doesn’t wash off when you go for a swim.
4. Eye makeup can get pretty runny in warm weather. To avoid this, use waterproof mascara on your lower lashes to reduce smudges whenever you blink. If you want your eyeshadow to stay on longer in the sun, skip the cream shadows and us e a light foundation and powder as a base before applying a powdered shadow to your lids.
5. Just like the last tip, use powder blush instead of creamy formulas, which can streak and make your face look too shiny. A powder blush helps soak up any oil.
6. Apply a toner to your neck and face to remove excess oil, as well as help control your level of acne – this can be done after you wash your face and before you put on any moisturizers.
7. If your hair gets oilier as the weather heats up, try limiting your use of products, such as hairspray, mousse, etc. Instead, let your hair flow with loose buns or ponytails. Try switching to a lighter daily shampoo or treatment for oily scalp if you find you’re washing more often. Also, remember to push your hair back with a headband/ or accessory so that it doesn’t look greasy during a night out.
8. To reduce bacterial buildup from sweat, shower or bathe before you put on deodorant. Try using a loofah with your body wash to help scrub and exfoliate dead skin and buildup. Look for natural ingredients in your cleansing soaps such as vitamin A and C, which also help to give you a moisturizing boost.
9. Sweaty feet can have you slipping and sliding in your cute new shoes! Wear cotton socks to soak up sweat, or dust foot powder on your feet before you put your shoes on.
10. Finally, use a non-greasy sunscreen to reduce oil buildup and acne, as well as help combat damage from UV rays! Blot the t-zone in between sunscreen re-application with a Kleenex or use blot tissues available at the cosmetics counter. |
