1. PLAYTIME. You can spruce up your child’s furniture with creativity. For instance, this bed frame was custom-made for a child who loves puzzles. Using reclaimed wood pieces and organic fabrics, the puzzle pieces can be adjusted whenever the child has a surge of inspiration.

3. A HINT OF COLOUR. How can you determine the best colour of paint for your child’s room? Consider his or her personality. For a happy five-year-old girl with boundless energy, this room was covered in a vibrant citrus green to fit her individuality. The paint used was low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which have chemical vapours known to compromise the immune system.
Bonus Tip: Consider treating your child to toys made out of natural materials such as wood,
cotton or fleece. Years later, you can easily donate the toys to a local charity, therefore utilizing one of the 3 R’s. According to Rosamond Richardson, author of Organic Home, plastic toys are non-biodegradable and also increase the amount of plastic in landfill sites.
