There’s nothing like starting off the day with a marvelous, mouth-watering meal. Better yet, eating breakfast every morning might be a way to curb your weight. According to a study published this year in the medical journal, Pediatrics, teens that eat breakfast on a regular basis tend to weigh less, exercise more and even consume healthier diets. Conversely, teens that don’t have breakfast every day have a greater chance of gaining weight. The study claim these results are in line with a number of others that show similar breakfast benefits for young children and adults. In fact, the International Food Information Council Foundation reports that eating breakfast is associated with a better attitude towards work and school.
Although we’d all love to sit down, relax and enjoy a bowl of steaming oatmeal, a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a plate of fluffy pancakes, we can all agree that many of us are strapped for time. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean we need to sacrifice a nutritious morning meal. Especially for those eating continental breakfasts in hotels or office seminars at 9am, boost your nutrition levels with organic coffee or tea, low-fat milk, whole wheat, rye or sourdough bagels and fresh fruits. And for the moms and dads with kids on-the-go to school, try organic frozen or fresh cherries and tart cherry juice to make a healthy homemade jam – a perfect addition to any toast, bagel or biscuit.
Nevertheless, we can all agree that the most memorable mornings are those where we’ve shared a wholesome breakfast or brunch with friends and family. With that being said, take some time on the weekend to get your loved ones together with these delectable, healthy recipes.
