According to a new study by Atelier Eyewear, conducted on prescription eyeglass wearers in the USA and UK, 83 per cent of people are wearing frames that do not fit properly.

The survey used the company’s UltraTool, unique software that creates accurate 3D scans of facial and cranial features online in order to conduct eyewear fittings.

The study also found that 60 per cent of eyeglass wearers use frames that feature a bridge that is too tight, while 65 per cent wear glasses with too-wide frames, and 71 per cent own frames with temples (arms) that are too short.

“Finding eyewear that fits can be a real challenge,” said Atelier Eyewear CEO Tim de Rosen in a press release. “People sometimes choose a certain style and base their decision on the style rather than the fit. That’s not the best decision for them in the long term because comfort and fit are by far and away the most important aspects to consider when buying eyewear.”

Atelier Eyewear became established in 2013 and quickly became known for its “made to measure” prescription optical and sunglasses, as well as its reputation for providing the best fitting and most comfortable eyewear online.
