PURICA, a Canadian-owned and operated whole food and natural supplements company, has established the PURICA Foundation. This charitable organization is designed to generate donations, fund-raising initiatives and promotional support for key causes in communities nationwide.

“The PURICA Foundation is designed to reflect the core vision of PURICA as a natural supplements company and that is ‘a world where you achieve your fullest potential in every aspect of life, work and play,’” says PURICA Foundation executive director Marnie Watkin. “That’s where our Foundation comes into play. We realize that many people require special support and additional resources in order for them to make the most of life, work and play and we aim to provide that where we can, with an emphasis on children, seniors and animal welfare.”

Among the first initiatives to be supported by the PURICA Foundation is the Clements Centre for adults with disabilities. PURICA employees are also involved in a related initiative, Operation Track Shoes, which brings together 1,500 athletes with disabilities to Victoria, B.C.

The PURICA Foundation will raise funds and awareness for children’s, seniors’ and animal causes through a variety of initiatives on a year-round basis, including:

– Corporate targets and/or percentage of sales
– Cash donations
– Product donations
– Educational, Promotional and Employee Support
– Fund-raising events
– Annual giving campaigns by employees
– Collaboration with PURICA retailers and other stakeholders

“Excellence in supplements, lifestyle education and community philanthropy truly are the three pillars of the PURICA way,” says Trevor Watkin, Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer & CFO for PURICA. “We are dedicated, day-in, day-out, to honour the ‘You’ in our PURICA mantra of ‘Nature. Science. You.’ From our founding 16 years ago, a focus on the community interests and causes of our customers has always been important to us. All that we’re doing is formalizing what we’ve been doing for years in the community and by creating this PURICA Foundation, we’ll be able to do more than we’ve ever done before.”
