Grab the massage oil and some candles—a new study reveals that giving your partner a massage can improve both your wellbeing and theirs.

Researchers out of Northumbria University found that a couple’s perceived wellbeing, perceived stress and coping was positively impacted by mutual massage. After the three-week study, the involved couples reported that their physical and emotional health significantly improved—whether or not they were giving or receiving the massage. What’s more, none of the aforementioned positive effects significantly decreased at a follow up three weeks after the end of the research period,

Diving each other a massage may also help to ensure relationship stability, adding daily affection and physical interaction to a couple’s routine.

What are you waiting for? Give mutual massage a chance in your own relationship—it’s also a great way to spice things up in the bedroom.
